Getting started
What is 9ja Traders?+
9ja Traders is a Nigerian online classifieds marketplace where buyers and sellers meet. You can post ads for vehicles, property, phones, electronics, fashion, jobs, services and more across all 36 states and the FCT.
Is it free to use?+
Yes. Browsing and posting ads is free. You can optionally promote a listing as a paid ad to keep it pinned at the top of its category for 30 days.
Do I need an account?+
Anyone can browse listings. To post an ad, chat a seller or see phone numbers you must create a free account.
Posting an ad
How do I post an ad?+
Sign in, tap ‘Post an ad’, choose a category and subcategory, add up to 10 clear photos, describe your item, set the price and submit. Ads go live after a quick admin review.
Why is my ad pending?+
Every new ad is reviewed by our moderation team to keep 9ja Traders safe from scams and prohibited items. Most ads are reviewed within a few hours.
Why was my ad rejected?+
Common reasons include unclear photos, wrong category, duplicate listings, banned items (drugs, weapons, counterfeit goods), or misleading titles. You can edit and resubmit.
Can I edit or delete my ad?+
Yes. Go to My account → My ads to edit, mark as sold or delete any ad you posted.
Paid ads (Featured)
What is a paid ad?+
A paid ad is pinned to the top of its category for 30 days and marked with a ‘Featured’ badge, so more buyers see it first.
How much does it cost?+
A flat ₦2,000 for 30 days per ad.
How do I pay?+
We use Paystack. After creating the ad, choose ‘Paid ad’ and you’ll be redirected to a secure Paystack page to pay by card, transfer or USSD.
Do paid ads skip review?+
No. Paid ads still go through admin review before they’re published, but they’re prioritised.
Buying safely
How do I contact a seller?+
Open the listing and use Chat to message inside 9ja Traders, or view the seller’s phone number to call or WhatsApp.
Should I pay before seeing the item?+
No. Always inspect the item in person before paying. Meet in a busy public place during daytime and never send money to sellers you haven’t verified.
How do I spot a scam?+
Be careful of prices that look too good to be true, sellers who refuse to meet in person, requests for advance payment, or anyone asking for your bank OTP or PIN.
Can I leave a review?+
Yes. Every seller has a public profile where signed-in buyers can leave a 1–5 star review.
Selling safely
How do I get more buyers?+
Use clear photos, a specific title (brand, model, year), an honest description and a fair price. Respond to messages quickly and consider promoting your ad.
How do I accept payment?+
Cash on delivery or bank transfer confirmed in your app before releasing the item are safest. Avoid cheques and suspicious ‘payment proof’ screenshots.
Account & privacy
How do I edit my profile?+
Go to My account → Profile to update your name, phone, location, bio and photo.
Who can see my phone number?+
Only signed-in members can see seller phone numbers, to reduce spam and scraping.
How do I delete my account?+
Contact support and we’ll permanently remove your account, ads and messages.
